Hey Blog surfers!

School has really begun in full force. I am now deaply into my studies and trying to finish this school year as soon as possible.

Just think - My name being call. Me. walking up on stage and receiving my associate degree!
I just cant wait. I want it BAD!!

I already know exactly what college I am going to attend next!. After my flashmob project I decided that i wanted to get into the event managment business. It's just a perfect fit.

The rush of getting everything organized, giving the client exactly what they want and more and ofcourse the satisfaction of a job well done is the best feeling every. This is how i see my life and this is what i am working hard for. This lifestyle will be mine * crazy obsessed person voice.

If you believe in your dream why do you need others to approve it?
It's good to atleast have an idea on where you want to end up in life. Instead of taking it as it comes.

You ! yes YOU have the power to draw out your succes. So make sure it's to your liking......

Back 2 Holland - Student Life

After a  interesting internship experience in Sint Maarten. It was about that time  for me to leave and head back to my home away from home. It actually feels good to be back. Can't to wait to show my fellow classmates all the pictures and videos ...well in the form of a presentation of course. It's going to be a little hard to get back into the flow of the student life, but I think it will be a smooth transformation back into the student mind set.

I had a great experience and learned a lot. I learn that not everyone thinks like me when it comes to getting things done. Because of this I became more independent than I already was. I never really like depending on others when it came to getting the job done. I am proud of myself and of the people who helped me when I needed it. So that my project would be a success.

My adventures has only just begon and I do believe that there are much more in store for me. I thank God for what he has already blessed me with and i pray that he guides me on the right path for what is yet to come.

DID THEY REALLY DO THAT ?!!

We are trying to make that change !

During the month of February and March. Sint Maarten Academy hosted  various activities to promote PEACE.  The word was used as an acronym for these activities. Namely; Principle , Excellence, Attitude, Courage and Empathy.

On Monday, April 2nd , 2012. Sint Maarten Academy closed the project by unveiling the "Choose Peace" mural. This Mural was done by Arun Shiwgobind. The project was put together by Ms.Tallulah Baly-Vanterpool and the rest of the Student Care Team.

St.Maarten Academy will also be selling "Choose Peace" t-shirt, that will be sold for $10 for the first 100
t-shirts. After they will be sold for $15. Now we understand that you wont be wearing this t-shirt everyday to promote peace. No worries. We also have bumper stickers to put on your car. This way every will know that you are promoting peace on the lovely island of Sint Maarten. You can get yourself one for just $5.

We also have a little competition going on with the help of a facebook. What have you been doing to keep the peace in your community. Take a picture in front of the "Choose Peace" mural, tag "choose peace" in the photo and tell us what you have been doing to keep the peace in your community. At the end of the month of April, the person with the most likes will receive a FREE " Choose Peace" T-shirt. Group photos are also possible with a maximum of 5 people . All proceeds will be going to Sint Maarten Academy to fund all on going and upcoming projects. See link below
https://www.facebook.com/choosepeace1

I'm happy to be apart of something like this. So much has been going on on this Island lately. It gives me good feeling inside to help out with such a project. We need to see more of a positive change on the Island of Sint Maarten. Especially because we are now "Country Sint Maarten". I'm sorry to say that the people of Sint Maarten are always ready to complain and say what has to change on the island and have great opinions. But yet they sit back and do nothing to make that change!

It's great to see that it is the youth of Sint Maarten that are putting there best foot forward. They are the future of tomorrow and are the perfect examples in my opinion.

I'm glad to have gotten the opportunity to work in the school system. Now i can see what schools go through to get things done. I got to see what goes on behind the scenes. For every small event or activity their is a lot of preparation to do behind it. When a school turns you down to do something at their school our with their students. It's not because they don't want to. Every school already has their own yearly plan. To fit you in, they have to get permission, change thing around and of course it can not interfere with exams or test week. Many people forget that you are dealing with a school..... and not a foundation that is just waiting for you to come with your activities.

I'm not saying that you can't propose an activity idea that you have. But just keep in consideration that they may just have something else planned.

RBTT BANK IS NOW RBC BANK

Last week RBC Bank launched their opening of the new bank which was formally known as RBTT Bank. St.Maarten Academy was asked to do their winning flashmob at this event. RBC Bank also donated money to the school, to help with other on going and upcoming activities.

Before doing their flashmob. Sint Maarten Academy marched in a parade with other youth organization from one  RBC Bank to the next.  It was a great event. The students were making up their own cheers on the spot which was pretty catchie.
So what do you think about the New Change ??

This is a short video of what went down that day. Enjoy :)

Shamballa craze

The shamballa "thing" has been taking over. You see it every where. If you don't know about shamballa's, then you must live under a rock! Or maybe your just not that into fashion trends.

Now of course shamballa has a special meaning to it. Soo i googled it because google is humanities best friend.

"Shamballa was originally a legend of hidden kingdom that is mentioned in various ancient texts. Shamballa gradually came to be seen as a pure land, a fabulous kingdom whose reality is visionary or spiritual as much as physical or geographic. Today, Shamballa is regarded as a place of "peace, tranquility, and happiness". Some Tibetan medical texts those are believed to have come from this kingdom of Samballa describing human anatomy and physiology, sophisticated theories and methods of diagnosis, and ways to prevent and cure serious diseases. It is also said that Shamballa is the dharma chakra, located in the heart of all living beings. It is the symbol for the mind, completing the trinity of body, speech, and mind. "

"Shamballa jewelries
, also known as Shambhala, Sambhala, and many other names that is recognized the ball bead fashion jewelry. Most of Shamballa bracelets are made from nylon string or waxed linen string featuring a traditional macrame manual toggle locking mechanism. The beads are made from plastic, metal, cubic zirconia stones, hematite, or diamonds. "

What i love most about shamballa's is that it's unisex. This jewelry  does not discriminate against gender. If you surf the net. You will see all your favorite celebs rocking this absolutely gorgeous jewelry, but of course they come at a high price.

If you just want one of the more simple looking ones. You can get yourself one between $70 - $100 dollar.

Now if your more of the flashy type of person then of course you gotta pay the money for that kind of life style. Lets say between $200 - $1000 dollar.

Soooo are you gonna go get yourself a shamballa

FLASHMOB PROJECT

For the past 4 months  I have been interning in The Beautiful Island of St.Maarten <3. Yeah "I from Here"  lol.
I must say my experience so far has been a crazy one. I took it upon myself to organize a flashmob competition between all high schools on the island.
Enjoying the random moments that happen in St.maarten

After months of running around preparing.Trying to get sponsor( which was not easy at all!). Making sure the schools understand all the rules and what i am expecting from them.  It was a big hype on st.maarten and to the amount of the people the links of the video were send to.

Concept - Each school was to prepare a flash mob on school grounds in uniform , film it and enter it to be posted on the official YouTube page. Students were judged on the amount of "views" & "likes", creativity and the amount of participants in the group. Also the schools were suppose to state in the video what they will do the money that was up for grabs.

The schools were competing for 1st place that received $2000 and 2nd place who received $1000. So you can say that these students were working hard to better their school, which is a great thing to see and do :).

The competition ended on Friday, March 9th, 2012 on the boardwalk where the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners were announced. Before anything was mentioned about who was the winner of the grand prize. I invite talented students and local young artist to perform and showcase their talent.
Everyone enjoying themselves at the winner announcement event !

This night was a unbelieveable succes! The kids really enjoyed themselves and cant wait for the next competition. This was not just another talent competition. It was a learning experience for me and also the youth of St.Maarten. They came together as a school and worked hard to do something positive. This is something you dont hear alot about these days (sadly).

HERE IS THE VIDEO OF THE SCHOOL THAT WON 1ST PLACE
ST.MAARTEN ACADEMY
